Op straat vind je de meest prachtige geometrische vormen, heel geschikt voor een quilt. Deze stoeptegels zag ik in Baku, de hoofdstad van Azerbeidzjan, en laat ik nou een quiltje met dat patroon hebben! Nou ja, bijna hetzelfde patroon. Het quiltje had ik gemaakt voor de miniquilttentoonstelling in 2007 van het Quiltersgilde "Mondriaan in Spakenburg" en bestaat uit lapjes van oude Spakenburgse kraplappen met felle Mondriaanse kleurtjes.
On the street one can find the most beautiful geometric shapes, very suitable for a quilt. These street tiles I saw in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, and I happen to have a quilt in this pattern! Well, almost the same pattern. I made this quilt for an exhibition of miniquilts in 2007, organized by the Dutch Quilt Guild, and it is made of fabric of old national costumes (the purples) combined with the modern colors used by the famous Dutch painter Mondriaan.
